A former confectionary factory at the Balchug Isle, today, Krasny Oktyabr is a giant complex full of offices, cafes, and art spaces. It’s a tricky territory with a lot of alleyways, odd buildings, and numerous doors and entrances. The guests have a hard time reaching a specific point without voice directions from somebody who is familiar with Krasny Oktyabr’s environment
For this project, we set our objective ourselves: we wanted to make sure that any guest on the territory of Krasny Oktyabr could independently reach their destination point. This required the design of clear navigation signage throughout the whole complex.
We conducted extensive research with a land survey, mapped the territory, collected the names of the workshops, and counted all of the isle’s entrance units
2012
We were inspired by the British traditions of directions and typography.
Welcome signs and posters with color coding of workshop buildings.
For each of Krasny Oktyabr’s workshop buildings we created posters with their 3D models, names, and location of venues.
Icons for the venues: play areas, café, bars, information, pharmacy, bus stop, hotel, and others.
We designed an original pattern for each workshop building.
